Travel Days

Sunday, July 24, 2011

This past weekend I was able to get away for a bit and have a breather from Jerusalem. I've been working SO hard these days and I really miss just having some down time (although when I have downtime I miss being busy...it's a catch 22).

These photos from the travels of photography duo Mr & Mrs Globe Trot have got me itching to be on the move again. That and to take more photographs. I can't wait to start posting regular and original content again. Thanks for sticking with me guys through this time of insane business! I truly relish it. Thanks : )

Killer Shoes

This outfit was too killer not to share. How amazing are those shoes? The rest of the outfit is great too but when you get down to the shoes it just puts it over the top amazing. Sorry for being dramatic, but I just adore a good pair of shoes : )

Finding My Style

Thursday, July 21, 2011

Today I blogged over at The Fieldbook about finding my personal style. It's been a tough journey for me and I'd love a little discussion on how YOU found your personal style. I need tips! See the post here.

The Sartorialist: Get This Look!

The other day I put together a similar outfit of one that I admired on The Sartorialist. You can find the links and the post over here.

Daily Life: In The North

Wednesday, July 20, 2011

Here are some pictures from last weekend when we went to the north for a mini vacation. I'm so thankful we have good friends that allow us to crash for the weekend!

Finding My Style

With the internet like it is these days it's not hard to find inspiration for getting dressed (however I still haven't found the inspiration to get out of bed to get dressed :D). I think the problem is that now I have almost too much inspiration and too many options. I used to keep a personal style blog as a way to remedy this situation. But I think I started to dress for the blog instead of trying to find out who I really am and how I wanted to represent that.
So I started a new section on my Pinterest called "Finding My Style". I save pictures of outfits that I truly adore. Looking through it I'll see the odd one or two pictures that don't really flow with the rest, and it makes me realize that I still don't really know what I want. This bothers me because I want to find a style that is truly myself. I want to find something and stick with it. I want to start adding pieces to my wardrobe that mean something and that will last a long time.

So my question is...how do you filter your wardrobe? What tips do you have for times when I'm out shopping and I can't decide if this piece is really the "look" I'm going for? I plan on going through my wardrobe when I get home and making some selective choices on what to keep and what gets tossed. I've been mulling over every single piece in my head and I'm pretty excited about making the decisions : ) Here's to a new beginning!

The Fieldbook

Thursday, July 14, 2011

Hey guys! I didn't anticipate being back this soon, but I thought I'd drop a note to share with you the link to the new blog. It's called The Fieldbook and it's taking on a whole new focus. I might post some style photos here and there, but it's going to be more like a real journal would be for me. I'm going to post a lot of daily life photos and inspiration photos (I've included some photos from my recent posts over there as an example) so I hope you enjoy it.  And please continue commenting over there! It's always a joy to get comments and I hope this transitions brings you along as well : )

Until then,

Taking a Break

Wednesday, July 6, 2011

Hey guys, I've thought a long time about doing this post. Fashion blogging has always been slightly uncomfortable for me. I've mostly been doing it because I've enjoyed the experience of meeting new people and having the challenge of photographing every day and having something to edit. But now I feel like I a need a break, or even to move on. So with that said I'm going to take a mini-vacation from Streets and Stripes. When I come back I hope to have my mind made up about whether to continue blogging here or somewhere else.

But something I do enjoy is sharing adventures with you in the daily life posts. If you are still interested in seeing daily life posts email me for the link to the blog I'll be updating.

Until then,
C

Style Inspiration: Casual Fridays

Tuesday, July 5, 2011

Sometimes its best just to go with casual. Yet, this outfit still has something different and unique about it.

Happy 4th of July!

Not being in America for the 4th of July was a strange experience. The day almost came and went with no recognition except for a few shouts of Happy 4th of July! between the few Americans I saw throughout the day. Looking at these pictures made me nostalgic for home. I'll be home in about two months and even though I would love to stay I'm still excited to get back to what I know and who I know.  So before this post gets TOO emotional, here's a happy 4th to all my fellow Americans : )

Daily Life: Away For The Weekend

Sunday, July 3, 2011

This past weekend I was able to leave Jerusalem with some friends and visit people we know in the northern part of Israel. While the humidity was almost unbearable (thankfully Jerusalem is the opposite when it comes to humidity) it was absolutely a relief to get away for the weekend and away from the stress of hostel life and internship duties.

Hong Kong Street Fashion

Saturday, July 2, 2011

I'm becoming more and more convinced that if you live in the far East it's in your genes to be fashionable. Is everyone in Hong Kong seriously this creative?? Ah, the kids in these street photos are amazing! Taken by Mr & Mrs Globe Trot.
