Scarf: Roommate's
Dress: Marshall's
Cardigan: Old Navy
Shoes: Target
Bag: Fossil, thrifted
This past weekend my memory chip for my camera deleted all my recent pictures. Thankfully my friend David was able to help me restore them via an application on his computer! I had taken a lot of pictures for the Fieldbook and I was so bummed all that work was lost! At least now I can rest at night. Phew.
Also, I have a secret.  This cup is from Aroma, a pretty popular coffee shop near campus, but it's not Aroma coffee.  I've taken to the habit of saving these containers and making my own coffee back at the campus and filling up just to save a buck or too.  But I know that reusing plastic cups like this over and over again isn't the most healthiest thing to do, ha. What can I say?  I'm a student! We do crazy things like eating noodles for every single meal of the day and adding a fourth at 2am in the morning just to get that last page written.
I only brought one long dress to Jerusalem. I have such a hard time finding a good one in the States. Remember this post? That was the inspiration to break this out. This is what I wore for another day of snapping street style.

Also, if you could do me a favor and spread the world about The Fieldbook that would be awesome! Leave me a comment if you have! I would love to link you here.

Also here is a little snippet of my life lately in Jerusalem. Click here to see.

Philadelphia Clothing Swap & Vintage Sale

Clothing swaps are a bunch of fun, don't you think? I've always wanted to go to one and for the first time I've had the chance to attend! But I'm stuck here. In the Holy Land. But when you think about it, that's a pretty good deal, so I thought I'd pass around the news!

For those of you in the Philadelphia area there's gong to be a pretty sick clothing swap and vintage sale on 3237 Amber Street March 5th 1-4pm. You can click here for more information. Go and have tons of fun for me and then come back and show me what you got : )

Israel Street Style: Jerusalem

Thursday, February 24, 2011

I thought it would be kind of fun to start a new feature while I'm away. Israel Street Style! I'm going to be walking the streets in search of anyone looking good. Here's the first post.
I'm sorry Mom, but I still really like dreadlocks.

This video came out about a month ago, so you might have already seen it, but I still wanted to share this. If you haven't heard of Scott then you should first check out his blog, browse through some archives, and then dig a little deeper, and THEN watch this video.

Style Files: This Weekend

Monday, February 21, 2011

This weekend was quite the adventurous one!  We tried out the new market, tour piggy backed at the Church of the Holy Seplechure, then spent a very wet and very cold day visiting Jericho and surrounding areas.

How was your weekend?

Style Files: The Market

Friday, February 18, 2011

Yay! Some good outfit pictures! You don't know how happy this makes me. The weather has really warmed up the past two days. I was actually kind of hot in this outfit walking around the city. However, in Jerusalem you are either going up or you're going down. This is the land of mountain and hills!
Jeans: Old Navy
Bag: Old City in Jerusalem
Scarf: Old Navy
Cardigan: H&M
Boots: Delia's
Top: Old Navy
These photos were taken on the way to The Shuk (pronounced shook). You can actually see the entrance here...it's the signs and overhangs in the background behind me on the left.

The Shuk is the central market in Jerusalem on the New City side. This is definitely going to become a place to go to when strolling around the city. The prices were amazing and the produce was much better here than in the Old City and even in some grocery stores.

Ps - Have you heard about The Local Natives? I think they are my new favorite band : ) I'm going to resist buying any of their music while I'm abroad since I want to save my shekels, but once I get home and get another job I'm all over it!
Click here to see the rest of the photos from The Shuk.

Street Style Inspiration

Here in Jerusalem, modesty is pretty important. I only brought one long dress thinking that would be enough (and it's the only one I own :D) but I'm starting to realize that it's more culturally appropriate in some of the places we visit to wear a long skirt out of respect.

So I've hunted down some inspiration and right now this long pleated gray skirt worn by Zanna Roberts Rassi (the Senior Fashion Editor at Marie Claire US) as photographed by Vanessa Jackman is my favorite.

What do you think of long skirts? It's probably not something I'd wear back in the states, but for here it's totally appropriate and sometimes required.

Style Files: Simple

Please don't hate me. I'm just not as good at the whole remixing thing like all the other girls are. Having a limited wardrobe is proving to test my limits of coming up with cute outfits. And I'm not even doing the 30 for 30! I'm just studying abroad!
At least I can still wear my stripes and cheetah.  Oh! And this bag was one of my first purchases when coming here. I only plan on getting very very few things while I'm over here. I would rather spend my money on going places (like a museum, new coffee shop, or going out to eat).

Well I have class pretty soon so I'm going to have to sign off, but have a great rest of your day!

Shirt, Jeans, Tank: Target
Bag: Old City vendor in Jerusalem
Belt: Urban Outfitters (gift)
Cowl: Taylor House

Love, Etc.

Monday, February 14, 2011

Just because its Valentine's Day that does not mean I want to see pictures of you and your lover swapping spit. I'm sorry, but it's just not a cute picture.  So instead I'll share with you what happened last Valentine's Day.
Last v-day I also had brown hair and bangs. Oh my! Ps Take a peak at my sweet new necklace I got. It's still a favorite.
Strawberry shooters from Applebee's - possibly the best thing on this earth. Next to peppermint hot chocolate.
And there's the chocolate!
Basically it was a pretty great day.  But this is how my Valentine's Day looks this year.

*Just a quick disclaimer - no I'm not bitter about couples or people who kiss, I'm just not huge on public PDA. And even though a blog is a personal thing...it is on the internet which makes it public. It's just something that kind of grosses me out. Sorry. If I have to live with you making out with your boyfriend all over my computer screen then you'll have to forgive me for not enjoying it : )

Happy Valentine's Day!
Ps - You should watch this video in honor of today.

What I Would Wear: Boots and Jeans

Saturday, February 12, 2011

This is exactly what I wish I was wearing right now. A comfy cardigan, my favorite shirt with breton stripes, a cosy cowl, my favorite pair of jeans, and a good pair of boots. Unfortunately some of the items are out of my price range, but I'm still dreaming.

1. Striped Top - $59.99

2. The Tiffany Cardigan - $67.99

3. Diva Skinny Jeans - $29.50

4. Boots - $62.99

5. Fossil Watch - $105

6. Midnight Navy Blue Infinity Scarf - $24

Style Files: Shabbat Shalom

Friday, February 11, 2011

I don't know WHAT was up with my bangs today but almost every single picture I took they were all up on my face. I didn't even feel them there! I would go look at the screen to see how the photos were coming out and there again were my bangs in domination mode. I'll have to star paying more attention to them if they get that clingy again.
This outfit is a classic example of how to basically wear the same outfit all the time. Yeah. It's a skill. At least that's what I say to comfort myself when I have no inspiration.
It's Friday here in Jerusalem which means it's Shabbat. Everything closes down and there is no school.  It's basically like our Saturday...except everything is really actually closed : )  We'll have our Shabbat dinner at 6:30 then a Vespers service at 7:30. It's going to be a good night! Hope you have a lovely Friday.

Ps. Style outfits are going to get better. I promise. At least I hope. It's hard not having some of my staples with me!
