Style Files: Flashback

Monday, January 31, 2011

So I actually took these photos when I was home (hence the snow) but I'm actually wearing this same dress to church in Israel so this counts, right? :D
Besides incurable motion sickness, the flight went well - thank you for all your prayers! Yesterday was orientation and registration at the college. I got in some awesome culture, history, and field experience courses. We also did a photo scavenger hunt which was fun way to see the city again (I'm not sure if I told you, but I was in Israel two years ago for a 10 day trip with my college).
The weather here is really unpredictable.  It rained in the morning, then was blessedly sunny outside, then it got hot and kind of humid, then cold, and then rainy again. My hair can't stand all these temperature changes!

Also, unless I can get someone to take my style photos (which is kind an uncomfortable thing to explain and ask someone, ha) I don't think I'll be able to post many outfit photos, but we'll see. I might be able to sneak someone when most people are in class.

Until next time!

I Can't Avoid It Anymore

Saturday, January 29, 2011

As much as I would love to hold onto winter for another month or so, the stores have already started pushing their Spring merchandise pretty early this year, and I can't help but notice a few pretty things.

Here are my favorite selections from Francesca's Collections. They are one of my favorite stores and also where I have bought some key items in my wardrobe. Tan satchels have really come back this fall and winter and are still going strong for Spring.

The striped tee is always a staple in a girl's Spring time wardrobe, as is a cosy cardigan for those brisk nights. I'm also trying to branch out into wearing more jewelry, so this ring is my first attempt (online at least :D).

So if you're looking for some cute AND affordable finds (definitely affordable) head on over and check out their new outfits for Spring 2011.

*I am not affiliated with Francesca's Collections in any way.  I'm just simply an adoring shopper passing along a good shopping tip : )

Meet Marisa

Friday, January 28, 2011

I can't remember exactly when I "met" Marisa, but I feel like I've know her for quite some time. She is such a genuine, beautiful lady. I also am happy to have found another Pennsylvanian blogger! Woo!

If you want to know why she loves bows so much and where she gets inspired then continue reading below! And in the meantime check out her beautifully original blog Shades of Monet.

And So The Journey Begins

Thursday, January 27, 2011

The time has finally come. Today I am jet setting off to Israel and start the journey of....well that's still to be decided.

I am scared and nervous of flying and no matter how many continents I've been on, I still don't like flying.  Don't believe what anyone else says...you don't get used to it.

So if you're of the praying nature, please send one up for me. Please pray for safety, a smooth and quick flight, for going through customs, and that I won't get sick :D This is going to be a rewarding semester, I can just feel it.

I do have some posts already scheduled to go off randomly this month so please keep coming back to check what's new on Streets and Stripes! I'm definitely not abandoning this blog at all : ) I'll be posting pictures of my travels and hopefully I'll be able to sneak in some outfit photos, who knows? :D Also please know that I'm not ignoring you if I don't comment back. I'm going to try my hardest to keep up on everyone's blogs and comment, but I'm not sure I will have the time.

Thanks for being such pals and friends this past year on the blog : ) I'm exciting to be taking you all along with me on this journey!
Some of you may know about this and some may not, but I'm going to be posting more of my daily life posts over at My Eliza Jane while I'm abroad.  I'm sure I'll have TONS to share and I want to try and keep Streets&Stripes more of a fashion focus.

Talk to you soon!

Style Files: Down On The Wire

Wednesday, January 26, 2011

The last few days have been filled with packing, more packing, and tying up some loose ends.
Like my typical self, I'm struggling with what to wear to the airport. It's always so tricky! It's warm and hot in the plane and airport, but once I step outside it will be freezing.  So I'm still deciding how many layers to take on the plane. Oh boy.  Any suggestions would be great!  Lucky for me, I have a great guy that helps me with these important decisions :D Haha.
This is the second skirt that I got with my Christmas gift card from Francesca's. I actually first saw this in a shopping bag my sister brought home earlier this month. Lucky for me my sister has great taste! Thankfully she didn't mind me buying the same skirt.  We rarely see each other, even though we go to the same school, so it's all good : )
Well, I'm off to finish packing! Hope you have a GREAT Wednesday.

Style Files: Saturday

Tuesday, January 25, 2011

Honestly, I feel like these pictures don't do justice to this outfit. This dress has really great detail and it's completely lost with how dark the dress photographed and with the big chunky sweater (which I might donate soon...still deciding).
At least I get to wear my favorite leather boots and mustard tights! Always a wining combo. Honestly, I don't even have time to post this but I miss you guys already!  If I haven't commented like I usually do, please forgive me. I barely have time to think lately.
This past weekend I got those space saver bags to make packing a bit easier, and I'm pretty excited to see how they work. It's one of those things I don't really trust when I see it on TV so we'll see how it goes :D

What did you do this weekend? Have any good fun?

Style Files: Fur Trimmed

Monday, January 24, 2011

Fur collars have really been popular amongst fashion bloggers this year. This is my version of the trend. I picked up this fur trimmed cardigan from Old Navy last weekend and I love how soft the yarn is! There's nothing better than a cosy cardigan to me. It makes the world go round.
Things have been pretty crazy here the past few days. There are times when I don't know how I'll get it all done, but I know that this time will pass and I'll be in Israel soon enough and all situated there. It's the whole travel and moving process that has me worried.
Also, I just need to get this off my chest. Bluetooth creeps me out. Not necessarily the idea of hands-free talking, but just people walking around talking to themselves. I'm not sure whether to smile at them or hide the children.

Hope you have a great Monday!

Daily Life: Sharing Memories

Sunday, January 23, 2011

Surprise date nights are the best.
Seriously.
Especially when they involve my favorite flowers : )

Daily Life: Nice Shoes There Bud

Saturday, January 22, 2011

There really is no need for these photographs. I just thought it'd be something fun to post :D I love when Chad wears things I get him. Especially if they are handsome moccasins!
What do you order at Subway when you go?
This is Chad's sandwich.
I pretty much stick to the basics when I go.
What can I say? I know what I like! :D

Thank You!

Thursday, January 20, 2011

I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who bought a cowl from my etsy shop Taylor House this season.

It was truly a dream come true to sell so many cowls (I reached my 100th sale! Woo!) and it made me feel validated as a shop owner and as a creative person.

I would normally stay open until March and into April, but since I'm heading off to Israel very shortly, I have to close down shop early this year.  I can't even WAIT until next year! More designs and more cosiness coming your way soon : )

Style Files: Bed Head

Wednesday, January 19, 2011

Woo! Talk about bed head. Sometimes its nice to be able to not do hair in the morning, but other days (like this one) it is a bit more necessary than normal.

Yesterday I was able to spend a good chunk of the afternoon and evening with the girls I nannied over the summer.  Let me just say that I adore these three. I feel so blessed to be a part of their lives. Gush gush gush : )

Ps - Tomorrow the Shop is closing so make sure to get your order in!
