Lunch with Grandma

Friday, December 31, 2010

I can't believe today is the last day of 2010! It always takes me a little while to get used to writing the new year on checks, calendars, and other places. I have high hopes for 2011. I have a feeling that something big is going to happen.

So to round out this year I thought I'd share with you some photos I took while out to lunch with my Grandma (yes the one who has the iPad) and my sister. The last time I was at this restaurant I was in high school about to go to a homecoming. This time I picked from the lunch menu and it was a lot more relaxed with a lot of laughs. I love spending time with my Grandma : )

Me & Santa + New Pajamas

Thursday, December 30, 2010

On Christmas Eve morning my Dad brought home these adorable little fellows! Does anyone know what a Long John is? You are truly missing out on the quality of life if you don't! They are amazing donuts and these ones were Santa Clause! I'm so glad I got the last one so I could get a picture with it before it was scarfed down.
Also, what is better than new pajamas?  Seriously. Let's try and answer that. New tires? New glasses? New bed sheets? I rest my case.
Did you get new pajamas this Christmas?

Thinking Back on 2010

Writing this post kind of helps me get my thoughts in order so I won't be offended if you don't read it, but I'll just go ahead and post it anyway:) I've picked some of my favorite outfit posts from the blog to include in this post.

This has been quite the year. A lot of ups and downs, some highs and some lows, but overall this year turned out to be not so bad. But here's to hoping 2011 is even better.

It's hard to believe that I've come so far from my first outfit post.  Some of you who have been here from the beginning know that this used to be a dual blog.  That means my friend Nicole and I used to do this blog together. But ever since the blog parted ways (don't worry, we're still friends, promise!) it's been quite the journey for me.

Having a blog is just another expression of who I am. I love anything creative and artistic, whether that be writing, painting, photography, music, or even just getting dressed in the morning, and this blog has become another extension of that part of my life.

I have made some great blogging friends over the past year and I hope we continue to keep up with each other! I only wish we could all gather for a cup of peppermint hot coco to chat about blogging and share some laughs.

This next year I hope will bring a lot of new beginnings, new friendships, and solid ground. Here's to another year!

I hope you all have been enjoying reading my blog because I've been having a blast doing it. I hope I can continue to do so in the next year.

Style Files: A Girl, Her Bag, And A Covered Bridge

Tuesday, December 28, 2010

Warning: This post is a little, no a lot, picture heavy (was that correct grammar?).
I just knew I wouldn't be able to part with this sweater when I got it.  It's 20% wool which makes it SUPER warm, maybe a little be itchy, but we all have our imperfections, right? I see a new relationship brewing....
I also totally and completely adore this bag. It's something I would describe as totally me down to the color and the pattern and every other detail.  It's something that makes me feel so awesome when I get to carry it around.  Is it normal for an accessory to make one person so happy?

I haven't wore these boots in such a long time. I know, what's wrong with me?  they are a great classic black boot and a comfortable. Another great Target purchase under my belt. These fellows have lasted me years!
Today was quite the busy day. My sister and I went out to lunch with Grandma, then helped her pick up her brand new iPad at the local store. I hope she loves it! I can now say that my Grandmother is more hip than I am me. I feel so proud : )

Video: How I Style Scarves

Monday, December 27, 2010

So as promised, here is the scarf tutorial!

One of the most common questions I get is how do you tie your scarves.  I've been meaning to put together a little video tutorial and with the help of Chad, it's finally up!  Hope you enjoy : )
This next video shows how I tie my super long scarf from Forever 21.
Do you have any scarf tying techniques?  Let me know in the comments! I love swapping ideas.

Style Files: Christmas Eve Eve

This year on Christmas Eve Eve I headed to the hairdresser! I was in the mood for a change, and it's been a while since I've been blonde so I thought why not. It's not exactly what I was looking for (the back of my head is a lot darker than the front) so hopefully I can go back in and get it fixed.
Also, stay tuned for a scarf tutorial video.  I got quite a few questions about how I tie my scarves, so I put together a little video this weekend and I'll post it either later today or tomorrow (please ignore the fact that my scarf is completely crooked in these photographs :P I promise the video is better! Haha).
I know I recently wore a different version of this outfit but I was going on a date and I really wanted to feel myself, so I put on all my classic pieces that make me feel more...well myself (am I'm being a bit redundant here? :P).
I've had this belt for a while now but I've never really worn it.  I got it as a gift a long time ago and didn't really know how to style it (I was a still in my jeans and  sweatshirt phase) so it got overlooked until now.  Lately I've been finding myself slapping this belt on almost every outfit I wear! This cheetah (or is it leopard) print belt has made me crazy in love. It's my new favorite.
Also, I don't think I will ever tire of these boots.  In fact, I might have them buried with me when I die.  Was that a bit too morbid for a fashion blog?  At least know you know the depth of my relationship with my boots by now! We're a pretty cute couple.

Daily Life: Christmas 2010

Sunday, December 26, 2010

This Christmas was definitely one to remember. I love being able to spend time with both sides of the family and it makes the season all the more special! Frankly, I'm quite sad Christmas came and went already. Because the University let us out later this year it didn't quite seem as Christmas-y as before. Next year will be different.
Did you have a great Christmas? Any fun stories or memories you want to share? Leave it in the comments and I'll read it!
