Style Spotlight: Mrs Sargent

Saturday, July 31, 2010

There was a period of time when I would visit Chictopia every single day. I got a little bit hooked and I didn't like that so I stopped visiting and after a while hardly ever went.  Then the other day I paid a visit and fell in love with it all over again.  There is just oodles of inspiration over there! It gets me so excited.
My latest crush is Mrs Sargent from Orange County.  Her style is exactly how I'd like to dress if I had the imagination to. I always wake up with this idea in my head of what I'd like to dress like but it never comes out how I pictured it. Perhaps some day I'll learn how to dress myself :D

Adore Vintage

It's times like these when I really love twitter. For those that follow me on twitter know that am constantly tweeting and sharing my new favorite finds (most of which never make it to the blog since this is just a style and life blog) but I just had to share with you my new favorite find.
These are some of my favorite looks from their Summer 2010 Lookbook
Adore Vintage is a vintage store that channels the best designs from the 30's+40's all the way through to the 80's. What I love best about this shop is that you can shop by a style theme, one of them even including a section dedicated to the lovely style of Zooey Deschanel! They also have some lovely vintage bridal gowns that some of you might be interested in ;D
What are some of your favorite vintage shops?  I adore finding new ones!

Daily Life: Days Like These...

Today before I get on the road to head to New York City, I wanted to share some of these photographs taken in my back yard earlier this week.  I hope you don't mind me sharing these photos from my daily life. I know this blog turned into more of a style blog lately but I still enjoy photography as I did before and enjoy blogging about it so thank you for indulging me!
Even though I often complain at the horrible heat of summer, there is a lot of beauty in this season. I hope you have a great Saturday! I have a lot more fun things to share with you this weekend so stay tuned.

Style Files: Sock Monkey

Friday, July 30, 2010

Dress-Ruche, Sandals and Socks-Target
I realize after taking and editing these photos and I need to do a better job at remember when to iron my clothes. :D  I still think this dress is too short to wear just bare legged so that's why I pulled on these socks (you can also see how I styled it last time).
I actually only wore this outfit in the morning since it got too hot to wear socks, but you can say it was my attempt to try and bring Autumn back.  I miss my boots, scarves, cardigans, and jeans! Yes, I said jeans!  I might be the only style blogger who misses wearing jeans. : )

This weekend I'm heading off to visit NYC to see this play with some family members. Then it's celebrating my sisters' baptism. I'll also be posting some awesome pictures of a gorgeous sunset we had the other night either tonight or tomorrow! What are your plans for the weekend?

Ps - I also just joined Weardrobe.com (click here to see my profile)! If you have an account hop on over and leave a comment so I can see yours!

I'm Missing Autumn

Thursday, July 29, 2010

Lately I have been missing my fall clothes so much that it's led to some serious internet browsing (it's the only relief!).  These navajo print items from Urban Outfitters are on the top of my wish list.
What is on your list for Fall?
Ps - Have you seen the new shoes from Timberland?  Amazing!

Style Files: Beat The Heat

Dress-American Eagle, Cardigan-Gap, Shoes-Target
I really enjoy this dress.  And yes it's the same one as this one just in a different color.  What can I say?  I love it! Just the other day I met up with an old friend for coffee and a late lunch.  It was so good to reconnect. I've also been knitting a lot for my upcoming shop update in September.  I'm so excited to share with you what I've been working on!
Also, I just joined Smashion.com (Thanks Indiana!) which is basically like Etsy except only for fashion and accessories and it doesn't have to be handmade or vintage.  PLUS there are no transaction fees when you sell something and no fees to list anything!  It's the perfect way to shop online without the added cost.

Another thing I love about it is that you can upload your own style pictures (you can see mine here) and create your own profile.  I'd love to be friends if you create a profile! (Mine is here)  Okay enough gushing now and more browsing on Smashion!

Ice Cream Cake Poppers

Wednesday, July 28, 2010

I know that it's basically blogger suicide to post more than once a day (and I violate that often enough) but I am SO excited about how these ice cream cake pops turned out that I just had to share them with you!
So you've all heard of Bakerella right?  Well my mom saw this post the other day about ice cream cake pops and she knew that she wanted to create these for the Baptism party we're having for my sisters this weekend.
But seriously how COOL are these ice cream cake pops?!  Sorry I'm gushing : ) But I just know everyone is going to love these at the party and I can't wait to see their reactions!
I'll be back tomorrow with another outfit post, but in the mean time enjoy this to your heart's content!

Ps...here are a few more images from getting ready for the party!
As you can tell, it's going to be a good one : )

Style Files: Striped Rain

Dress-Old Navy, Bag-Fossil (thrifted), Shoes-Target
I wore this outfit for one very simple reason - it's blazing hot here and I needed something easy. That's also why my hair is in an unkept ponytail :D Oh the joys of summer!
This past weekend I headed to Jo-Ann Fabrics to pick out the fabric for my latest project.  I'm making a market tote out of canvas and I hope it goes well!  Only time will tell.

These pictures were actually taken about 2 minutes before it started to bucket down rain! (Does that make sense?) I'm so thankful we got inside when we did because my Dad wasn't so lucky and was caught out in the storm and came in soaked to the bone!

Ps - Thanks for all your support with The Sketched!

Introducing...The Sketched

Tuesday, July 27, 2010

Because I'm crazy and want to fill my plate up even MORE (I don't know why) I started an inspiration blog called The Sketched. I wanted to keep this style blog just that - a style blog. If I combined it into an inspiration blog there would be a lot more posting going on and I didn't want that to get clogged up over here.  So that's why I started The Sketched. I hope you'll hop on over there and give it a visit and tell me what you think!
